Lightweight Steel Building Systems
ILA have been involved with Metek Building Systems
light weight steel building systems since October 2004, in this short
time we have assisted in the delivery of a number of high profile
projects with many more currently at design stage. We have also
contributed to R&D work as part of the Metek SGF team. This new and
exciting light weight steel and concrete floor solution was launched in
June 2005, providing a new unique fast track cassette flooring
solution.
Metek systems are suitable for various market sectors.
In multi – storey developments, MBS light steel framing creates a
rapid dry envelope to support both external cladding and internal
plasterboard. The use of Metek’s ‘Warm Frame’ system
enables high acoustic and thermal values to be achieved, far exceeding
current building regulations.

Within a steel or concrete frame structure, other
forms of infill cassette panels are worth consideration. Forticrete
Block and Ibstock Brick have joined forces to form a new company, FI
Permafast Systems.
This new venture has developed and launched the
Permafast factory built pre-assembled panel system. The Permafast
system is a lightweight steel frame system which provides the
advantages of genuine masonry wall finishes in a timescale not possible
by traditional methods. Permafast is a just in time solution to
creating broad expanses of high quality masonry with no special skills,
no wet trades and no waste.
